Pool Skimmer Parts

(132 products)

Most skimmer problems don't require a full unit replacement — a cracked weir door, a waterlogged float, or a broken faceplate are all straightforward part swaps that can be done without touching the plumbing. EZ Pools carries replacement skimmer parts for the most widely installed pool skimmers from Hayward, Pentair, CMP, and Waterway, including weir doors, floats, throat assemblies, faceplate assemblies, equalizer valves, skim vac plates, and more.

Common Skimmer Parts and When to Replace Them

The weir door is the hinged flap at the skimmer opening that allows water and debris to flow in while preventing it from floating back out when the pump cycles off. It takes constant abuse from water flow, UV exposure, and debris impact — warping, cracking, and hinge failure are all common. A weir door replacement is one of the simplest skimmer repairs and makes a noticeable difference in skimmer performance when the old one is no longer seating properly.

The float assembly regulates water level inside the skimmer and keeps the weir door operating correctly. Floats can become waterlogged over time, which throws off the weir door position and reduces skimming efficiency. Throat assemblies and faceplate covers are structural components that can crack from freeze damage or physical impact — both are available as individual parts for most major skimmer models rather than requiring a full skimmer replacement.

Skim vac plates and equalizer valves are less frequently replaced but worth knowing about. A skim vac plate allows you to connect a vacuum hose directly to the skimmer for manual vacuuming, and equalizer valves prevent the pump from drawing air if the water level drops below the skimmer opening.

Finding the Right Skimmer Part

Skimmer parts are model-specific — a weir door for a Hayward SP1070 SkimMaster is a different part than one for an SP1082 Auto-Skim, even though both are Hayward skimmers. The fastest way to find the correct part is to locate your skimmer model number, which is typically stamped inside the skimmer body below the waterline, and match it to the corresponding part SKU.

Hayward skimmer parts use the SPX prefix for most replacement components — SPX1070 series parts fit the SP1070 SkimMaster, SPX1082 series parts fit the SP1082 Auto-Skim, and so on. Pentair parts for the Sta-Rite U-3 and Bermuda series follow a similar logic. CMP and Waterway parts are typically designed as compatible replacements and cover a broad range of skimmer models — useful when an OEM part is discontinued or unavailable.

If the skimmer body itself is cracked or beyond repair, a full unit replacement is the better path — browse our complete pool skimmers collection for in-ground and above-ground options.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most commonly replaced pool skimmer parts?
Weir doors and floats are the most frequently replaced skimmer components — both are exposed to constant water flow and UV and tend to warp, crack, or fail before the skimmer body itself. Faceplate assemblies and throat covers are also common replacements after freeze damage or physical impact.
How do I know which weir door fits my skimmer?
Weir doors are model-specific, so the most reliable method is to find your skimmer model number — usually stamped inside the skimmer body below the waterline — and match it to the corresponding part. Hayward weir doors use the SPX prefix and are tied to a specific skimmer model number. If the model number isn't legible, measuring the opening width and hinge pin spacing on the existing weir door is the next best approach.
Can I replace a skimmer weir door without draining the pool?
Yes. Weir doors simply clip or pin into the skimmer throat and can be swapped out without draining the pool or disconnecting any plumbing. It's one of the simplest skimmer repairs — typically a matter of removing the old door and snapping the new one into place.
What is a skim vac plate and do I need one?
A skim vac plate sits in the skimmer basket opening and allows you to attach a vacuum hose directly to the skimmer for manual pool vacuuming. It's a useful accessory if you vacuum your pool manually rather than using an automatic cleaner — it routes suction through the skimmer instead of requiring a dedicated vacuum line.
Where can I find a complete replacement skimmer if my skimmer body is cracked?
If the skimmer body itself is beyond repair, a full unit replacement is the right call. EZ Pools carries complete in-ground and above-ground skimmer units in our complete pool skimmers collection. For baskets and lids specifically, visit our pool skimmer baskets and pool skimmer lids collections.
