Buckmans Muriatic Acid is a versatile chemical essential for pool maintenance, available in convenient 1-gallon containers. Ideal for adjusting pH levels, it ensures balanced pool chemistry within the ideal pH range of 7.2 to 7.6, enhancing the efficacy of other pool chemicals. This muriatic acid also helps reduce total alkalinity, preventing cloudy water and scale formation, and effectively removes calcium scale buildup on pool surfaces caused by high calcium hardness. Furthermore, it's excellent for cleaning pool surfaces, removing stains, algae, and other deposits. Always handle with care, using protective gear for safety.

Directions & Dosage

Because of its strength, this product must be used carefully. For Spas / Hot Tubs, often no more than a splash of this product is needed to achieve the desired pH. For pools and larger bodies of water, you want to use about one quart of muriatic acid per 10,000 gallons of water, to lower the pH by around 0.1.

Water treatment
Used to lower the pH and total alkalinity of pool water. Maintaining the correct pH level is crucial for water balance and to ensure the effectiveness of other pool chemicals. The ideal pH range for pool water is typically between 7.2 and 7.6, and muriatic acid can be used to lower the pH if it rises above this range.

Cleaning
Muriatic acid can remove stains from many surfaces, including toilet bowls, chairs, cement, swimming pools, and some plastics. You can apply a diluted solution directly to metal stains with a rag or sponge, but don't apply it directly to the metal.

Staining and Acid Washing
In addition to water balancing, muriatic acid is also commonly used to Acid Wash a plaster or gunite pool. This involves draining the pool and using a diluted muriatic acid solution on the pool walls to remove a thin layer of plaster- and any stains that may sit on it. Acid washing should only be performed by a professional, and safety equipment is a must!
