BioGuard Algae Complete 2L | Algae Prevention for Pools & Spas

Before Applying the Product:

1. Equipment Check: Confirm that all pool equipment is functioning correctly. Clean the filter system if necessary.
2. pH Adjustment: Ensure the pool water pH is between 7.2 and 7.6.
3. Chlorine/Bromine Levels: Maintain proper levels of chlorine or bromine. For chlorine-treated pools, add a stabilizer to achieve a cyanic acid level of 30-40 ppm to protect chlorine from sunlight degradation.
4. Cleaning: Vacuum any leaves or foreign debris from the pool. If algae are visible, brush it off the pool surfaces thoroughly using a brush that's compatible with those surfaces.

Preventing Pool Algae:

• Initial Application: Add 8 ounces of this product for every 10,000 gallons of pool water.
• Regular Maintenance: Continue with a weekly dose of 1-1/2 ounces per 10,000 gallons. For maintenance every two weeks, use 3 ounces per 10,000 gallons. Increase frequency if the pool water is significantly diluted due to heavy rain, frequent backwashing, or a partial drain and refill.
• Safety Precaution: Wait at least 15 minutes after application before swimming.

Treating Visible Pool Algae:

1. Initial Oxidizer Treatment: Apply an oxidizer, such as SpaGuard Enhanced Shock, according to its label instructions and allow the pool to circulate for 1 hour.
2. Apply Algaecide: With the pump and filter running, add 16 ounces of this product per 10,000 gallons of pool water, focusing on areas with the most algae growth. Ensure the pool water circulates continuously for 24 hours.
3. Subsequent Cleaning: The following day, brush the pool surfaces thoroughly.
4. Safe Re-Entry: Before swimming, test the chlorine levels to ensure they are between 1-4 ppm. Do not enter the pool if chlorine levels are outside this range.
5. Repeat if Necessary: For persistent algae issues, repeat the brushing and product application after 2-4 days to ensure complete eradication.
